Senator Vitter Earns Small Business Endorsement
Commitment to Small Businesses Clinches Important Constituency’s Support
WASHINGTON, D.C., July 26, 2010 — Today the National Federation of Independent Business, America’s leading small business association, announced its full support and endorsement of Senator David Vitter.
A strong advocate for small business, Vitter has a 100 percent voting record this Congress in support of small business. He has been an especially strong leader on labor policy, specifically working to level the playing field for small business owners. He is also a vocal opponent of card check legislation, a chief concern of small businesses in Louisiana.
“In a time when there is a lot of focus on helping small business, some leaders just talk about it and others work to find ways to deliver on it. Senator Vitter is one of those leaders working for results for our nation’s job creators,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB’s vice president for political operations.
Vitter is a supporter of small business’ top priorities, including tax relief and regulatory reform. He understands that small businesses need confidence in our economy and that happens by promoting fiscal responsibility.
“Senator Vitter continues to work diligently to offer constructive solutions to the top problems small businesses face. We commend the Senator for his strong support for the businesses who struggled so severely from the natural disasters of the past and now during the oil spill. NFIB will continue to work with him to find meaningful solutions that work for small business,” said Goeas.
There are thousands of NFIB small business owners in Louisiana, and even more small business employees and supporters, making this a significant endorsement in an important election year.
The endorsement comes from NFIB’s Save America’s Free Enterprise Trust, the association’s political action committee, and is based on positions on key small business issues including healthcare, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues. With this endorsement, Vitter gains the active grassroots and financial backing from Louisiana’s small business owners.
Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage Louisiana’s members to help turn out the small business vote on Vitter’s behalf on Election Day.
